Psoriasis Awareness Week - Something personal
This week (1st - 8th Nov) is Psoriasis Awareness Week!!!
I got PSORIASIS when I was 18 and it has been with me ever since. I’ve managed to reduce and stop it from spreading with diet restrictions and by keeping healthy but it is ALWAYS with me. When it comes to the rare occasion where I wear short sleeves or skirts, the patches are revealed and people ask questions like: “Uh, what happened there?” and this, I do not mind.
However, having received hurtful comments like “EW!”, “What is that? That looks disgusting!”, calling me a snake (due to skin flakes), “Flecky” (which means spotty) or being told to get out of the gym pool because I might be contagious, have made me cover my body for many years even when it was 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit)!!! It kept me from swimming in pools with friends or going to the beach even wearing skirts or t-shirts felt impossible. SO I usually wear long sleeves, long jeans and prefer glamorous, long evening gowns to short cocktail dresses :)
So here are a few facts:
1. Psoriasis is an auto-immune disease, it is genetic and can not be contracted.
2. It can spread all over your body – I have it on my elbows, thighs, knees, my back, ears and scalp.
3. It leaves most people very insecure about their body.
4. The red patches produce skin flakes which by no means look pretty and we know that!
5. I may be oversharing but I hope to make people aware and less prone to judge and insult those who might have stood in front of a mirror all day debating whether to wear a simple t-shirt.
6. Always remember to be kind and if you need to comment, be inquisitive rather than insulting.
Share you experience with me!

I am back.
SO as you may have noticed, I have not posted in two years. Mainly because I forgot I even started a Blog. I have a slight suspicion that this isn't a rare occurrence and that there are many Blogs in Blog-Heaven due to lack of consistency. I did have high hopes I would start writing here religiously. But I shall give it another try.
I never moved to England due to a job offer at a film company in Vienna. Staying in my home country was nice for a change but I did miss traveling - as in not work related shooting traveling ;) After one year in Vienna I packed my bags to start a new adventure and have spent almost an entire year here in Australia on the other side of the world. It is lovely here. People are friendly and the Kangaroos are cute & tasty :D If you are in Australia you should definitely check out the West Coast it has beautiful flora & fauna and is genuinely underrated. And to the disbelieve of all my friends did not spy one snake, shark or flesh eating spider. Just a loooot of Kangaroos - I do feel like my worries might have been a bit over exaggerated.
During my time here I've been working on the odd music videos here and there, a few modeling shoots and on a pilot for which I did a bit of directing as well as camera but to be honest I didn't really spend a lot of time focusing on my career over here. I've taken the liberty to spend a year floating around and doing jobs to keep my head over water but nothing that really was in my métier but am so very excited to get back into my field!!! And since everything must come to an end I will leave this beautiful country of Kangaroos behind and move to England in July (this time for real haha).
Yours truly,
Madeleine
